DAN EL MISMO RESULTADO TODOS LOS FOTOPROTECTORES SOLARES? ( PARTE I)

At the center many times people with a thousand and one doubts come to me, since the advertising bombs with a lot of brands and an overinformation very interested on the sun photoprotectors.

Let’s try to answer some of the most normal questions that are usually asked:

– Can the same product be used for the face as for the body? Well the answer is a resounding no, the skin of the face is exposed all year and is more punished by radiation than the rest of the body so in the face, neck and hands we would have to wear it every day of the year with a factor of 30 in autumn-winter and 50 in spring-summer. The rest of the body we can start the first days with a 50 but we can go to 30 within the same summer.

– If it is cloudy, it is not necessary to use FPS, or in any case, I put it lower. Never. The clouds filter up to 80% of the sun’s rays and the ultraviolet radiation, so these days it is more important to protect oneself, since as the sun is better tolerated the ultraviolet A (UVA) radiation, which pass the filter the clouds, penetrate more deeply

-I have sensitive skin, is it preferable to opt for physical filters ?: Yes, since they alter the skin less and achieve total protection, if you have allergies opt for pure physical filters.

– Do Physical Filters protect better? They act differently, what happens is that the photoprotection is immediate and you do not have to wait for the cream to «take effect». Chemists absorb radiation, so we should wait about 20 minutes for them to take effect, since they are applied until we put ourselves in the sun.

– Does it matter what texture we use? No. We must be careful with the Spray, because they can be inhaled and harmful substances can reach the lungs, so you have to cover your nose and mouth to apply them, especially in children. In addition, as it is usually a fine mist that is applied, the amount is less and there is more risk of not having adequate protection to the sought

– If I use more cream, will I be more protected? Yes. The WHO recommends about 2 mg of product per 2 cm of skin, plus about 30 ml of product each time, in adult. But the reality is different. Normally we tend to put about 0.5 mg / 2cm, so to make up the difference you have to use sunscreens with an SPF of 30 or more and reapply every 2 hours.
